Going on Volunteer Mission

Each year for the past 15 years, MEP Volunteer Service has been sending 150 young people, between 20 and 30 years of age, on missions lasting from 3 months to 2 years. Sent to support the Church in Asia and Madagascar, MEP volunteers radiate – in their work, their meetings and their service –  the love they have received, and give meaning to Christ’s words: ’If you have love for one another, then everyone will know that you are my disciples’ John 13, 35.

Leaving on a mission as an MEP Volunteer involves :

Discernment:

Volunteer Service is not a decision to be taken lightly. To find out more, the Volunteer Service is available to anyone who wishes to learn what MEP has to offer during the various events we take part in, or during the AfterWorks of the 124, or by reading the numerous testimonials, etc.

Training and preparation for departure. A week of training is required for cultural, personal, spiritual and practical training. There are 4 training weeks per year.

Leaving:

° for 1 to 2 years under VSI status (Volontariat de Solidarité Internationale),

° for 3 to 12 months following other modalities.

Departures take place throughout the year depending on the availability of the volunteer and the needs of the mission.

Being accompanied. In the field, volunteers maintain close contact with their project managers and  with the MEP priests in the mission. Volunteers also commit to regular assessments to take stock of their mission.

Review your experience by participating in a ‘feedback weekend’. Three weekends are held each year.

The MEP Volunteer Service sends you on missions involving education, teaching, event and project management, health services, communications… You are sent in the service of the Church and the needy, into communities, with religious, in schools, dioceses, missions, religious associations, etc., sharing in their everyday life.
